GRADUATION BABY!!

Ok, I haven't published for a few days because I wanted to add some pictures with my post. First of all, I want to thank everyone for coming this past weekend...I really appreciate the support. Most of you have already heard my narrative from rehearsal/graduation, but I wanted to write it down anyway--skip parts if you're bored. :) So on Friday I went to the March through the Arch on the Quad. It was kind of stupid--there were a million people on the other side of the arch taking pictures. I don't want to be in their pictures. Anyway, I found some of my fellow classmates (Psych grads) and we ate lunch together. It's kind of funny because a few hours later at rehearsal, I found them again. This time, we made the decision to sit together at graduation. Anyway...I had a nice patronizing experience at rehearsal. The lady handing out the name cards (to read on stage) treated me like I was three years old. "Now you'll need to keep this and bring it to graduation tomorrow because that's how they'll know what your name is. That's how they'll read your name as you go across the stage." Nauseating. You know, I could even deal with what she said because there are some stupid people out there. HOWEVER...I couldn't deal with her tone of voice. Obnoxious. Anyway, I found even more of my Psych friends (one had graduated in December) and we lined up to rehearse the processional. The idiots running the rehearsal didn't tell us to get into two lines, so when we had to split there was chaos because people wanted to sit with their friends (including me). The entire rehearsal was a waste of my time (with the exception of finding my friends). It was completely focused on the graduate students--oh, you know--how much they deserve this honor, how to hold their hood, etc. Completely ignore the undergrads--I get it. We didn't work at all for our degrees. We also didn't take out sizable student loans to get them either. Psh. Sorry...I'm kind of being negative. Anyway, Jeff and Jen came on Friday night and we all went to Perkins. BIG MISTAKE! It took FOREVER! I'm going to skip ahead to Saturday because this post is already too long.

I stayed at Mom's house on Friday night so that we could go to graduation together. After a quick run to WalMart and pictures, we were off! I had to be at graduation at 9, but it didn't start until 10. I found all of my friends, waited forever, walked to our seats, and waited forever. The grad students and pharmacy docs are annoying. They need to have their own graduation. It takes forever to get them all through!! I was in the first row of the first college after the grad students so I was pretty early on. After I walked across the stage I heard my name being called, right before I went to sit down. It was my advisor/professor--Dr. Turley-Ames. She gave me a big hug. I thought that it was nice of her--but kind of weird. She's so professional when it comes to her job that it surprised me. It was a nice surprise though. So I mass texted everyone, waited, waited, and waited some more. Graduation is more boring when you are the graduate than if you are just watching, I've decided. Okay...this is way too long. I have to say I was disappointed though. ISU normally has loads of balloons that they let down after graduation. This year...nothing. Normally they have professional photographers after you go across the stage. This year...a video. Normally there are chocolate covered strawberries...this year??? NOPE!! I would be even more disappointed if Melanie and Spencer hadn't gotten me some. Cheers Whams!! Okay, I'm going to end here right now. I might add more later, but this post is way too long. Again, thanks for coming everyone!

That sucks that your graduation was disappointing. Hopefully you can look back on it and remember the good things about it and not the bad. Congratulations again!

I still can't believe that your graduation is over now. We've been looking forward to that day for years! Congrats! And, I think that was the most fun I've ever had at a graduation (no kids to wrestle with).
