Teddy Bears and Kindergarten Graduation

I'm finally getting around to posting about our Teddy Bear bread fun. Last Thursday (I think) Jamie and Melanie and their respective families (too many people to name individually) came to Mom's house to make teddy bear bread and play Mario Kart on the Wii. It was a lot of fun!

Not a whole lot has happened this week. Justin and his family came up for the weekend and we went over to Aberdeen to see the graves and Grandma and Myrl. My favorite part of the trip was when Myrl set up his "water rocket" machine (an air compressor hooked up to a machine). Basically you take a soda bottle (liter) and fill it half-way with water. He put the bottle on the machine and turned the air on. Once he was ready he would tell the kids to pull the string and whoosh! The bottle flew up in the air...hence the term "water rocket". It was fun.

The other day I stepped on an unknown piece of metal that punctured my heel. It bled a lot (squirted, actually) so I shouldn't have worried about having any problems but it made me think. I realized that I was like, five or six the last time I got a tetanus shot. That was...long enough ago that made me think of getting a new one. I went to the Southeastern District Health Dept. yesterday and got a tetanus shot. I paid a little extra to add the protection against diptheria and whooping cough. I figure that if I work with kids (or even with my nieces and nephews) that it was worth it to get. I felt fine yesterday, but today my arm is sore and I haven't really felt 100%. Oh well...the protection is well worth the minimal pain that I have to have because of it.

Tonight Mom and Dad and I were able to go over to Jerome for Kammi's kindergarten graduation. It was really cute. They sang songs and even did a little sign language. Kammi was brilliant of course! After the graduation Kammi had to show me her skills on the monkey bars. She's a lot better than I am! But then again, her arms aren't holding as much weight as mine! Anyway, because we both "graduated" this year, I had a couple of pictures taken with her while I was wearing my graduation cap. The last time that happened she was one year old and I was graduating from high school. :)

Camping with Jamie, Malorie, Jamison and Becky

As you can tell from the title and the pictures, I went camping on Friday night with the aforementioned people. As much as I dislike camping, we had a lot of fun. Jamie was able to put the seats down in the back of his van and I slept in there. It was kind of hard, but a lot better than sleeping on the hard, cold ground. Anyway, on our way up to the campsite, a guy flagged us down on the road saying that his Jeep had broken down at his campsite. He was there for a long weekend, so I don't know why he was desperate to get it started just then. Anyway, Jamie tried to jumpstart the car with no luck. We finally told him that we would check on him in the morning on our way back down as none of us have experience as a mechanic. We finally got to our campsite around 6:30 and were busy setting up camp (putting the tent up, finding firewood, and the most important thing: STARTING THE FIRE!!). We all know that I'm a pyro! :) The problem was that we had very little wood and even fewer matches. The people who run the campground normally have wood for sale, but they didn't have any as this was their first weekend of the season. It was really nice up there. It was warm, but not too warm. Because it's May and it has been cold, there were very few bugs. Nice! Anyway, I had made a tin foil dinner (just potatoes) before we left so I was able to eat some delicious fire roasted potatoes. Yummy! Everyone else had hot dogs...poor them :). Anyway, we had the traditional campout food--S'Mores (which were incredible, by the way) and hot chocolate, but we also roasted Starbursts on the fire. This morning we went to the overlook. I'm convinced that we went at the perfect time because everything was still green--in a few weeks it will be less so. Anyway, we had a lot of fun! I bet you're sorry you missed it!

Moving, Moving, Moving

First off, I wanted to thank Jen for taking pictures for me last weekend. I really appreciate it. They were great pictures...aside from me being in them. :) Anyway, cheers Jen!
I have spent the past couple of days packing up all of my stuff to move to Mom and Dad's. I feel like I'm regressing a little bit, but I'll get over it. I will find a job in the next couple of months and hopefully move out by August or the beginning of September (once I figure out roommate situations). It's a good thing that I don't have a lot of stuff--I don't think I could handle moving like Jamie and Malorie did. Other than that, I'm just enjoying the warming weather. I'm a little worried about a potential truckers strike that is rumored to happen in June. Mom and I are supposed to go on our trip during the first part of June. Hopefully things will be okay.

A B-PLUS!

I have been waiting on my Cognitive Processes grade since last Thursday. I finally got it today and I got a B+!!! That is one of the most challenging classes I have ever taken--and I took it during my last semester when I slacked off a bit (even more than usual). I'm so excited!!

GRADUATION BABY!!

Ok, I haven't published for a few days because I wanted to add some pictures with my post. First of all, I want to thank everyone for coming this past weekend...I really appreciate the support. Most of you have already heard my narrative from rehearsal/graduation, but I wanted to write it down anyway--skip parts if you're bored. :) So on Friday I went to the March through the Arch on the Quad. It was kind of stupid--there were a million people on the other side of the arch taking pictures. I don't want to be in their pictures. Anyway, I found some of my fellow classmates (Psych grads) and we ate lunch together. It's kind of funny because a few hours later at rehearsal, I found them again. This time, we made the decision to sit together at graduation. Anyway...I had a nice patronizing experience at rehearsal. The lady handing out the name cards (to read on stage) treated me like I was three years old. "Now you'll need to keep this and bring it to graduation tomorrow because that's how they'll know what your name is. That's how they'll read your name as you go across the stage." Nauseating. You know, I could even deal with what she said because there are some stupid people out there. HOWEVER...I couldn't deal with her tone of voice. Obnoxious. Anyway, I found even more of my Psych friends (one had graduated in December) and we lined up to rehearse the processional. The idiots running the rehearsal didn't tell us to get into two lines, so when we had to split there was chaos because people wanted to sit with their friends (including me). The entire rehearsal was a waste of my time (with the exception of finding my friends). It was completely focused on the graduate students--oh, you know--how much they deserve this honor, how to hold their hood, etc. Completely ignore the undergrads--I get it. We didn't work at all for our degrees. We also didn't take out sizable student loans to get them either. Psh. Sorry...I'm kind of being negative. Anyway, Jeff and Jen came on Friday night and we all went to Perkins. BIG MISTAKE! It took FOREVER! I'm going to skip ahead to Saturday because this post is already too long.

I stayed at Mom's house on Friday night so that we could go to graduation together. After a quick run to WalMart and pictures, we were off! I had to be at graduation at 9, but it didn't start until 10. I found all of my friends, waited forever, walked to our seats, and waited forever. The grad students and pharmacy docs are annoying. They need to have their own graduation. It takes forever to get them all through!! I was in the first row of the first college after the grad students so I was pretty early on. After I walked across the stage I heard my name being called, right before I went to sit down. It was my advisor/professor--Dr. Turley-Ames. She gave me a big hug. I thought that it was nice of her--but kind of weird. She's so professional when it comes to her job that it surprised me. It was a nice surprise though. So I mass texted everyone, waited, waited, and waited some more. Graduation is more boring when you are the graduate than if you are just watching, I've decided. Okay...this is way too long. I have to say I was disappointed though. ISU normally has loads of balloons that they let down after graduation. This year...nothing. Normally they have professional photographers after you go across the stage. This year...a video. Normally there are chocolate covered strawberries...this year??? NOPE!! I would be even more disappointed if Melanie and Spencer hadn't gotten me some. Cheers Whams!! Okay, I'm going to end here right now. I might add more later, but this post is way too long. Again, thanks for coming everyone!

Surreal

Surreal. That's the only word that can describe what I'm feeling right now. I'm excited and terrified at the same time. Right now, I'm going to focus on the excited bit and push away the nervousness...I'll deal with it later. I think that after 5 years of school I deserve to have this moment. Am I wrong? Anyway, I hope I see all of you soon!

Cap and Gown, Mollusks and Zero Motivation

Today was the first day that we could go and pick up our caps and gowns. Because of my extreme paranoia, I got my cap and gown today just in case anything went wrong in my order. Luckily enough for me, it was just fine. While I was waiting, the Alumni guy loaded me down with a lot of crap (a book written by some guy who went to ISU, fingernail clipper set, a luggage tag, another book, a sticker for my car, a mousepad, and last but not least--info on donating to the Alumni association!). What this stuff has to do with ISU I have no idea. LAME!
So, I need to explain this Mollusk thing. I asked one of my coworkers why she was drinking out of two straws. She said she liked how it felt and that it made her feel like a mollusk! Um...okay. I started laughing so hard, I had to go into the back to stop. What a funny girl.
So, again, I have no motivation. My final final (yes, I did that on purpose) is tomorrow morning. Rargh. I need to study. Right now. I keep getting distracted by the smallest things...oh look-- There's a spider web under my computer desk!

Waffles, Remembering and Studying

I got the news this morning (as I was studying) that I didn't need to come in to work. I (obviously) was quite excited! Kimberley had called me a little earlier to ask me to come over. I had hesitated because I needed to study a little before I had to go to work at 12. When I found out I didn't have to go to work, I went to Melanie's to enjoy some waffles with caramel-ey like syrup. I could eat that syrup all day (until I went into sugar shock). I highlighted Melanie's hair while I was there...it turned out a little blonde, but I think it looks good anyway. I am in need of new contacts, and as my economic stimulus check won't be here until Friday, I needed Mom to buy them. This is where I am quite unlucky. I put her credit card info into the computer while I was visiting her at Poky and went out to Chubbuck to steal some of her food. While waiting for my tostada to cook I looked at my bank account and found that 1800 Contacts had charged MY debit card! Aarrgh!! My tithing and rent check have yet to come out and so I freaked out, drove to Poky, got a check from mom, put it in the bank...and everything is okay. Thank goodness! An overdraft fee is the last thing I need right now.
I spent the rest of the evening with Jamie and Malorie watching National Treasure. I did quite a bit of studying during the movie, so I was able to enjoy part of the evening while still being smart. The next couple of days are going to be a little crazy. I have something up my sleeve that I won't mention because I don't know who is going to read this blog. Let's just say it's stressful. Anyway, sorry that this was such a long post, but thanks for reading! (This is almost like Melanie's old journals--wait, I did mention what I ate for lunch! :) j/k Whams!)
P.S. Also, check out Melanie's blog...it has some pretty funny stuff about what Kimby said to me today.

One down...one to go!

I was lucky enough to only have two finals this semester. I had one this morning and I have one on Thursday. I am actually really happy that my last final is on Thursday because the test is going to be crazy--I need time to study for it. Cognitive Processes has been an absolute beast of a class and I'll definitely be glad to see that one done. I appreciate everyone's curiosity and good will towards me, but I have to admit that it kind of annoys me when people ask what I'm doing now. I honestly do not know! When I say that, they kind of look at me like I'm an idiot. It is especially bad when strangers (i.e. at work) ask me. Like that's any of their business. Anyway, I watched Lars and the Real Girl tonight. What a bizarre movie! It deals with this man who buys this plastic woman online and has this delusion that she's real. It's weird. Anyway, as much as I don't want to, I should probably start studying for Cognitive. Wish me luck!

Me and the girls

I really liked this picture of me and the girls. I thought that I would post it for everyone to see the cute-ness of it! (for those who didn't already see it on Jen's blog)

I need a vacation!

With graduation rapidly approaching, I find myself caring less and less about school. This is currently a very bad thing, as I have a final tomorrow and a crazy hard one on Thursday. I really don't know what to think about my life right now. For the past 23 years, my life has been mapped out for me. I started full time kindergarten at 5, college at 18 and am now finishing at 23. Now what?? If anyone has any ideas, let me know (unless they include dating, marriage or a job--the first two are nobody's business and the last is already going to happen). Anyway, I am in sore need of a vacation, but I don't know where to go. Mom and I are going to go somewhere when she gets out of school the first part of June, but I don't know where. Someone give me some ideas!!
